I never owned a N64. I never played Turok.
Though my hands can thank me for not having had to use the N64 controller, I just stumbled on this Digital Foundry video; and I'm really surprised how good and smooth the animation look. Considering the limitations of consoles at the time (1997 for Turok's release), it's interesting to learn that motion-capture was already used to give NPCs a more natural behavior. First-person animations were also given a particular attention (especially overlap and follow-through) and still look extremely smooth.
